Winner of BBC The Apprentice – Harpreet Kaur – Chooses to marry at The Wentbridge House Hotel
When Harpreet Kaur married Akshay Thakrar following a very public two-year romance, they chose Wentbridge House to deliver the quintessential Yorkshire start to a three-day extravaganza that also included two further ceremonies as well as the Traditional English Civil Ceremony, all at Wentbridge House!
The Apprentice star and entrepreneur Harpreet, married Akshay – Fellow competitor of the show – digital marketing agency owner, at the West Yorkshire country house and wedding venue Mid-week in May 2024. Harpreet emerged the winner on the show, scoring a £250,000 investment in her Oh So Yum! Business.
“The only way I can describe our wedding is that it felt like a movie, it was amazing,” Akshay told OK! Magazine, who had exclusive access to photographs and video coverage of the day. Wentbridge House was equally delighted to not only welcome the couple and their guests on the day, but to be involved in helping Harpreet and Akshay create a totally bespoke event that would reflect the couple’s personalities and cultural heritage.
Catherine Hardy – General Manager at Wentbridge House said – “From the initial enquiry when we first heard of their exciting plans and different rituals and ceremonies, we were only too happy to help and offer suggestions to ensure that we met their requests, whilst at the same time still offering our warm Yorkshire welcome and traditional food and service here at Wentbridge”
“As with all the couples who choose us for their special day, we aimed to meet their requests throughout the planning process, enjoyed the journey with them, and created a truly memorable occasion for everyone involved, we all had an amazing time!”
With the sun shining through, Harpreet and Akshay joined 60 close friends and family members in front of the Garden Folly that is a highlight of the Wentbridge grounds and gardens, and popular with so many couples.
As Harpreet’s father had passed away, it was her mother walking Harpreet down the outdoor aisle, through a sea of white petals and to an instrumental version of Bruno Mars’ Just The Way You Are.
Harpreet wore a stunning white Enzoani wedding gown with floral detailing and a flowing veil while Akshay was dressed in a smart black tux. The couple exchanged rings and vows during the civil ceremony in the Garden Folly that was suitably dressed in white and green florals to match the surroundings.
Following the civil ceremony in the gardens, two further ceremonies took place later in the day, making the most of the other secluded spaces offered to Weddings at Wentbridge. Including the Haldi Ceremony that took place in out Courtyard outside – Full of yellow and white jasmine florals where the couple encouraged guests to join them in some colourful Indian wedding rituals.
The party continued into the evening with lots of traditional music and dancing, whilst enjoying their evening food served from the seasonal BBQ outside, where more family and friends joined in their celebrations.
From Wentbridge, the couple left separately the following day to spend time at their family homes ahead of an Indian ceremony in a Hare Krishna temple in London (and more partying) three days later.
